Reason 1: Auction “Kick Off” Social, sponsored by the Development Committee. Our goal is to have 100% family participation in some aspect of the event. Come learn more about this thank you party for our school!
5:30—7:00pm Heavy Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Plan to come directly from work. There will be plenty of food. Bring a non-alcoholic beverage or appetizer to share!
Reason 2: Attend an enlightening talk by Dr. Kent Johnson, sponsored by the Friends of Morningside Academy.
“Teaching Social and Emotional Behavior at Morningside”
7:00—8:30pm Kent will delve into the specific ways the program has evolved to incorporate explicit instruction in social and emotional interactions. Kent commented, “Kids have a more precise way of talking to us about their problems, and they can talk about things they never talked to us about before. Instead of seeing grunts and tears, there is now a language to express themselves. They now are able to talk about their problems more precisely.”
NEED CHILDCARE? The Development Committee is sponsoring a Video Night at Morningside, supervised by Morningside teachers, for kids 12 and under. For the reduced fee of $15/child receive three hours of childcare to enable you to attend both events. Childcare will take place from 5:30—8:30pm! Proceeds go directly to the teacher supervisors.
