Here is a rough sketch of the evening we have planned so far. Imagine yourself dining at the Lake Union Café with a spectacular view of the Seattle skyline. An adult evening is promised, beginning at 4pm, of friendship and celebration. Spectacular food, thanks to the chefs at The Lake Union Cafe and our connection with Shelly Gomavitz, current parent and owner, who is so graciously providing us with a great deal on the evening's dinner.
As the evening begins, you enjoy the wonderful sounds of The Josh Rawlings Trio as you pick up your auction materials and program. You wander amidst the multitude of items donated by family, friends and businesses. You can hardly believe your eyes as you see so many highly sought after items. Quickly, your pen moves to place your bid. And then, it's time to meet some of the artists who have come to exhibit their work and who have donated a piece that later will be up for bid in the Live Auction. You eat your dinner, enjoy some wine or beer or a refreshing soft drink and wait for the Live Auction to begin with Jerry Toner.
It is so wonderful to raise money for a school that has helped thousands of kids to catch up and get ahead. You listen to some touching success stories and then you are ready to claim the items you have won in the Silent Auction. But wait, the Dessert Frenzy is about to begin.
"What a great evening! It will likely be labeled the social event of the season. And, to think, it was a fundraiser too," you say to yourself as you walk out the door and feel the cool evening breeze on your face as you approach your car. "I can't wait until next year for our next event," you whisper to your significant other or to anyone who will listen.
