The Josh Rawlings Trio is a rising jazz combo in Seattle that originated behind the doors of Cornish College of the Arts. Often referred to as the Cornish Trio, the Josh Rawlings Trio has enjoyed playing numerous performances for such clients as Paul Allen, Microsoft, the Mayor of Seattle, the State Governor and their respected school as well.

Though the group is quite young and fresh on the Seattle scene, their music thrives with a feeling of maturity and pure joy. The group enjoys playing all classic and new jazz music, and will occasionally cover music from the far reaching corners of Nintendo Games and notable pop tunes.

All members are extremely active playing in a multitude of local groups, as well as playing with local jazz elite including Jay Thomas, Jim Knapp, Hadley Caliman, Denney Goodhew and Dawn Clement to name a few. The Josh Rawlings Trio has also had the privilege of playing the opening of the Downtown Seattle Public Library and annual benefit auction for Morning Side Academy three years running.

Recently the trio recorded its first full length album and has begun pursuing public performances after years of playing private and upscale events. Their album, entitled 'Introducing the Josh Rawlings Trio', is wonderful mix of original tunes the group believes will show the breathe of their strengths and abilities. The album should be available to the public in mid-April and is sure to delight young and old jazz lovers alike.

We are excited to announce that Q13's Adam Gehrke will host our gala as Master of Ceremonies on April 1.

Adam's career in TV actually began with 10 years of work in radio. In that period he worked for a handful of AM and FM stations here in the Puget Sound. Somewhere in the mix of all those stations he was overheard recording a stock report on a business/talk station and was immediately drafted as a traffic reporter. Since then he has broadcast traffic, weather, and news updates on countless radio stations across the Puget Sound earning the title "Seattle's Best Traffic Reporter" by Seattle Magazine in Dec. 2002.

Adam is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound, with a BA in Communication, and a minor in Music. When he isn't on air broadcasting, he's probably working on a stellar new magic trick, recording a new song, practicing Baguazhang in a local park, or taking a power nap.

Reason 2: Attend an enlightening talk by Dr. Kent Johnson,
sponsored by the Friends of Morningside Academy.
“Teaching Social and Emotional Behavior at Morningside”

7:00—8:30pm
Kent will delve into the specific ways the program has evolved to incorporate explicit instruction in social and emotional interactions. Kent commented, “Kids have a more precise way of talking to us about their problems, and they can talk about things they never talked to us about before. Instead of seeing grunts and tears, there is now a language to express themselves. They now are able to talk about their problems more precisely.”

NEED CHILDCARE? We are sponsoring a Video Night at Morningside, supervised by Morningside teachers, for kids 12 and under. For the reduced fee of $15/child receive three hours of childcare to enable you to attend both events. Childcare will take place from 5:30—8:30pm! Proceeds go directly to the teacher supervisors.
