Comments from Morningside Parents and Guardians

"There has been a favorable change in our son's attitude toward school and feelings about himself since attending Morningside. He is now very positive about his education. He enjoys going to school and shares with me much that he is learning. He feels very positive about himself."

"Our son holds his head up now. He smiles, and according to him, he's "gettin' some knowledge." He's gone up three grade levels, and we're all thrilled. For years he was so frustrated by all that he wanted to learn, but couldn't. Now, he's proud of the work he's done, holds some keys to how he learns, and sees-for the first time-possibility."

"Although it was a financial stretch, I enrolled my daughter at Morningside. After the first few weeks I noticed a change in her. She made a few friends and she was pleased with herself when her point sheet showed responsibility and progress. Her reading improved and she finally learned the times table fluently. She completed middle school at Morningside and then went on to be successful in high school. She graduated with a solid B average. She is now attending college."

" 'I used to hate school but now I don't' is what our son used to say. This is key in the development of his confidence and self-esteem. Morningside is challenging him and at the same time is giving him the support and attention he needs. He is really enjoying his civics and psychology classes."

"Our son was just named as semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship program. I thought you might be interested in where one of your graduates has ended up. Our son finished second grade able to read virtually nothing. He gained six years of reading in three years and significantly improved his writing skills at Morningside. Our family is aware that he could not have achieved this without Morningside. You showed us that he could learn. Your methods gave him the foundational skills he needed, and the daily charting showed him that he was steadily improving, even when he couldn't really tell. You also understood our desire for him to be at his cognitive level, rather than only at grade level. Thank you for all you did for him and us."

"Our daughter is so bright and yet was so "blocked" because her learning disabilities prevented her from showing what she knows and learning about her world. Imagine the joy (and relief) that comes when your reading level goes up 3 grades in one year! The investment is so worth it. I wish this form of education could be available to any child who needs it."

"Morningside saved our lives. My daughter, after a fairly successful career in the primary grades, had failed to make the adjustment to middle school. The public schools were totally unable to meet her needs. After two and one-half years at Morningside she is now functioning successfully in a public high school. Thank You!"

"We wish to thank you for the assistance with our son, Johnny. He was placed in the advanced class after testing quite high on the make-up exam. He now has a completely improved attitude toward education. Knowing the incredible difference you all made will hopefully brighten your lives."

"Our child had a tremendous year academically at Morningside. He had amazing progress and he felt very proud of what he accomplished."

"My daughter has benefited from the positive outlook on education that is demonstrated throughout the Morningside program. She feels positive about her ability to succeed and enjoys her interactions with the teaching staff. I have not heard complaints regarding feeling 'stupid', 'not being good enough' and 'being dumb.' She feels positive about her ability to learn and, most importantly, her ability to read."

"It was exciting to watch as my godson became a better reader. His success at Morningside improved his self-confidence and his desire to learn. He started to read out loud even when not prompted. He often talked about how hard he worked at school but he seemed to like the challenge because he looked forward to being at school."

"We've tried a lot of different things with our child; Morningside was definitely worth it. The staff is qualified and dedicated - they nurtured but didn't coddle."

"Our daughter came to Morningside two years ago with very low academic self-esteem. She was two grades behind in reading and math. She made up four grades in two years, found her confidence and her voice, made great friends and had wonderful role models in her teachers and Principal. She leaves Morningside prepared for new challenges in middle school with skills and strategies."

"My daughter found Morningside Academy's summer program to be a truly positive learning experience. The staff quickly identified her skill deficits and provided effective instruction that not only helped her acquire critical skills, but also made her feel confident that she could be a successful learner. The competent staff did a great job in preparing her for her next academic year."

"My daughter had a very positive experience at Morningside Academy during her six week Summer School course. She was tested and the areas of weakness were identified. The gaps in her education were filled and she progressed quickly through your program. She is now a 7th grader getting straight A's!"

"My son has attended summer school at Morningside for the last four years. He was failing at most subjects when he started. At the end of summer school he was more confident and was moved from special ed to regular math at his (private) school. We have sent him back to Morningside the last 3 summers for catching up in reading & language arts while getting ahead in math. I think that his summers at Morningside have made a big contribution to his academic successes in his regular schools. This year he is earning A's and B's in public middle school."
