"I wanted to take this opportunity to say that Morningside Academy was the place that allowed me to turn my life around. It was the place that allowed me to learn how to focus and use my energy constructively. Ever since I left Morningside, I have never taken any drugs for my ADHD and have excelled in school still."

I am thrilled to tell you that, last night, my daughter brought home a report from her English class which showed her currently at 93% (class average is 91%)! Similarly, last week she brought home a report from her algebra class - 93%. Although the first day of high school was overwhelming, she regrouped, applied herself, and is showing a persistent motivation to succeed.

When I began questioning her reluctance to go to school, ability to focus in second grade, her principal at the time said to me, "Some kids just aren't as smart as others."

Wanna bet?!

I am deeply grateful to all of you for your work with my daughter, which has changed the course of her educational journey. Not only did you give her the educational success she needed, but also the respect and dignity she deserved.

I graduated from Morningside 26 years ago, and I never knew how much Morningside meant to me until now. You see it wasn't until this year when I walked through Morningside's doors once again with my own daughter that it hit me.

It was at that moment that I felt a rush of comfort, warmth and understanding. It was like coming home after years away. Then for the first time I realized how much Morningside truly meant to me. Morningside was the only place that understood me. They "got me".

I am a person who can now accept that I had and still do have learning problems/disabilities. As a kid this was too difficult for me to accept. Even admitting it was and still is hard for me. I remember all the anger I had, the fear, sadness, and the feeling that no one understood.

Morningside taught me so much about myself. I started to enjoy learning, and I felt good about it and myself. The strategies I learned during my time at Morningside still help me in my everyday life.

I went on to have a successful career and am now devoting my time to caring for my wonderful family. When my oldest daughter started having trouble in school, it broke my heart. I was so scared. All my feeling from my childhood surfaced and it was then that I picked up the phone and called Morningside.

Once again Morningside delivered. My daughter is reading spontaneously and she enjoys reading. She is feeling better about herself, and I cannot thank Kent enough for creating Morningside and changing my life.

Kent and the entire staff at Morningside are amazing people. Thank you for all you have done for me, my child and all the other families past and present.

I am a former parent of a Morningside student -- our son attended for three years, and we left in June of 2007. We left Morningside but we still feel an appreciation and interest in the school.

Our son entered Morningside with little confidence, poor social skills, and anxiety. The teenage years are already difficult and with a disability of ADHD, it gets compounded. Our son flourished at this school. He made good friends and accelerated academically. He had teachers and staff who cared about him. Instead of feeling different in a bad way, he was part of a majority of kids, all struggling with their own concerns while at the same time making dramatic positive changes.

The teaching methods help everyone to succeed. Dr. Kent Johnson was wonderful to our son and always available to us. Our son bonded with Kent and that relationship contributed to our son's self-esteem. Our son liked going to school!

I believe the three years at Morningside made it possible for our son to successfully transition into a huge 1,700-student public high school. We thank Morningside and wish it continued success in helping children and educating parents.
